| Abstract: The need for use of modern engineering tool for a better insight into the activities that go on in the heart for a synergetic approach to stop heart-related diseases informed the effort to curtail this problem through electrical simulation. Due to recent developments, Electrocardiography has evolved from a cumbersome laboratory apparatus to compact electronic systems that often include computerized interpretation of the electrocardiogram, thereby making it another breakthrough in the study of the heart. Each heartbeat is a complex of distinct cardiological events, represented by distinct features in the ECG waveform. The voltage variations measured by the electrode are caused by the action potentials of the excitable heart cells as they make the cells contract. With special consideration to noises which cause disturbance to the Electrocardiogram Signal, this paper focuses to such an extent that the measurements gotten from the original signals are reliably gotten and such noises minimized. A number of linear and non-linear technique has been developed to eliminate these artifacts. This work therefore revolves round the design of a filter that will efficiently minimize the different kinds of noise that may occur during the processing of the signal from the heart. A user-friendly interface was equally developed to analyze and graphically plot electrocardiogram signals in addition to simulating the model with the filter to illustrate how a practical wave from the heart could be processed. |
