| Abstract: In this empirical study, a mathematical proof and calculation of possible error has been demonstrated when the tool has not been set at the center of the work-piece on an experimental lathe, when performing a taper turning operation. This paper describes the effect of wrong positioning of tool on taper turning operation. Hence our experiment emphasizes practical implementation of taper turning process where irrespective of the job, whether it is being made taper or straight, in both case the tool should be positioned at the center of the work-piece. Tool should not be positioned either above or below. Experimental results have shown that a considerable amount of improvement was achieved for the taperness error of work-piece in the taper turning operation. The acceptance of the job depends on the taper turning operation and measuring systems with respect to acceptance criteria (as per drawing dimensions) with the help of ruby ball (touch probe) which includes the radio and inductive transmissions systems in the CNC machines being controlled. Hence PLC Programming has been developed which enables to segregate the job in such a way that if the job is rejected, it will go to reject bin and if the job is accepted, it will go to accept bin automatically. |
