| Abstract: This study was carried out to determine the few vital national wars Nigeria should fight and win in order to achieve agricultural development . One hundred national wars were adopted from the book titled "National Wars" by J.O. Asalor and the results were analyzed using Pareto principle of 80/20 rule. The study became necessary as several national initiatives to enhance agricultural development have yielded disappointing results. In all, 17 few but vital wars were identified as wars to be fought and won in order to achieve agricultural development in Nigeria. These include wars: against poverty, to keep Nigeria one, against illiteracy, against soil erosion, against deforestation, against unemployment, against flooding and against desert encroachment. The purpose and significance of the study is that the results will be useful to national leaders and development planners, for example those concerned with Federal Government agricultural development policy as embedded in vision 20:2020. |
