| Abstract: Herbal medicines are widely used because of their effectiveness, less side effects and low cost, so investigation on such agents from traditional medicinal plants has become more important in present day studies on medical sciences. In present study possible anti hyperglycemic effects of haemocyanin were studied in alloxan- induced rats, compared to normal control and diabetic control rats. The blood samples were collected every seven day and anti-diabetic effects of haemocyanin were observed every time. The serum and urinary glucose level were also studied. 4ml/kgbw/day haemocyanin for 21 days significantly lowered serum glucose level (28%) and urinary glucose level (55.2%). The preliminary study revealed that the haemolymph exhibited a positive effect in the studied animals by significantly lowered the serum and urinary glucose levels in normal rats used in this study. |
