| Abstract: In commercial or residential spaces achieving comfort level is essential via thermal, ventilation and daylight systems. This study will focus combining natural concept with building envelopes (glazing, shading device and window shutter) and supporting it with previous studies and researches in this area. The study took place on United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi (Residential Villa). Eco-Tect software was used to simulate the applied strategies and analyze data such; daylight uniformity and sunlight movement, climate conditions summary, thermal levels and materials conductivity. The main reason behind choosing UAE is the hot climate, therefore, the need of ventilation systems, solar heat gain control and daylight equality is essential to reduce energy consumption and achieve healthier indoor environment. However, choosing Abu Dhabi city as a case study is due to the large development of sustainable built environment concept and the focus on this field especially in ‘’Masdar city’’ Abu Dhabi (the low carbon cities). The natural concept that has been studied and applied to this project was the Human Eye. The internal and external parts of human eye has been studied and analyzed in terms of eye layers, movement and reaction with different conditions. Three strategies have been applied and studied in three different phases on selected areas inside the villa and combined with human eye concept. In results, tables and figures were analyzed and discussed for each phase. Finally, considering the proper use of material, building envelopes strategies and climate conditions as part of the design in early stages, will help in improving building energy efficiency, comfort indoor environment levels and sustainability solutions. |
