| Abstract: The development of agriculture in the country is circumventing the computerization of agro-meteorology which has caused a setback in data handling, research and manipulation thereby reducing farmer’s knowledge about weather forecast and predictions. The Development of Gumbel mathematical model for predicting meteorological data in agriculture describes how mathematical models can be developed or computerized for a fixed purpose of predicting meteorological variables in order to reduce time and increase user’s efficiency. This research is a reflection of how important modelling can be used to shape and pattern in agro-meteorology and other science and social science fields in a developing country like Nigeria. The fading beams of relationship between model development and agro-meteorology which has been given little attention is causing a lot of drawbacks in the agro-meteorology; in Nigeria such as limited and slow data outputs, unawareness of farmers to the importance of having meteorological details and the repulsive attitude of the Agricultural sector towards Computerization which is decreasing the credibility of agro-meteorology in the country. The solution therefore which involves interest and research into fusing computerization which is the future into modelling and agro-meteorology justifies the purpose of this work. In this research, window-based software was developed using one of the unified modelling languages and picking the best fit models for prediction. The result which brought about a flexible meteorological predictor that can run on virtually every computer around the world is hereby aimed at increasing the scope of agro-meteorology and other meteorologically inclined organizations in Nigeria and other developing countries. Due to various statistical limitations relating to the verification of the premiss in previous works, this project focused on the prediction of only one meteorological variable. This research work serves as a basis for which easier meteorological predictions can be done using computers which is a common, efficient and flexible machine relatively useful in agriculture and other meteorological related fields. This basically crooned to strengthen the relationship between computerization and agro-meteorology in order to enhance technological growth in the agricultural sector by giving farmers and meteorologists a boundless access to data and meteorological variable predictions. |
