Article Title: Vertical Electrical Sounding for the Investigation of Kaolin Deposits in Ozanogogo Area of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria
by Egbai, J.C.

Abstract:
The Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) was used to determine the existence, thickness and quantity of Kaolin in Ozanogogo in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. The Schlumberger electrode configuration was adopted for data collection. The method involves depth control in which electrode spacing is increased to obtain information from greater depth at a given surface location. The linear filter method was used in the interpretation of the resistivity soundings. Some boreholes were logged so as to correlate the surface resistivity survey with well logging. The result indicates that kaolin deposit of thickness ranging from 0.5m – 44.1m. These results are in agreement with borehole data. The quantity of Kaolin in Ozanogogo shows that there exists a very large quantity of Kaolin deposits for commercial purpose.
