Article Title: The Inhibitive Effect of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Gel on Copper in Hydrochloric Acid Medium
by Kalada Hart and A.O. James

Abstract:
The inhibition of corrosion of copper in hydrochloric acid solution by Aloe Vera gel at concentrations of 10, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 %v/v and temperature range 303K- 353K has been investigated using the weight loss technique. Values of inhibition efficiency are in good agreement and are dependent upon the concentrations of the inhibitor used as well as the corrosion media. The corrosion rate increased with increase in temperature while the inhibition efficiency as well as surface area decreased with increase in temperature. A first-order type of mechanism has been deduced from the kinetic treatment of the weight loss results and and the process of inhibition is attributed to physical adsorption. The adsorption of the Aloe Vera gel on copper was found to obey the Langmuir adsorption Isotherm.
