| Abstract: Vertical electrical soundings (VES) were carried out in Ekiadolor and Ovbiogie area using the Schlumberger configuration of electrical resistivity method to map the subsurface geologically. Ekiadolor and Ovbiogie are two communities or regions sharing the same boundary. The VES points were geo-located using Global positioning system (GPS) mapping. The geophysical survey entailed measurement of apparent resistivities and revealed the delineation of four layers earth in each of the sounding point. The data collected were interpreted by curved matching and computer iteration using Interpex Ix1D v 2 software. The interpretations showed that the third layer in all the locations is highly resistive and the profile of the area is homogeneous and horizontally stratified. The geoelectric constructed Ovbiogie map has attributes which varies from 620.0 m to 625.0 m in the northing direction and from 760.0 m to 725.0 m in the easting direction. The resistivities and thicknesses of the model earth layer have a range of 3-1100000 ohm-m and 0-2320 m respectively. The basic lithologies or rock types intercepted were clay, moist Silt/Sand, Silty Sand/ Gravel, dry Coarse Sand/Gravel and Bedded rock. |
