Article Title: Eosin Y Mediated Facile and Efficient Metal Free Synthesis of Organosulfur Compounds under the Visible Light
by Fouzia Abdul Sattar, Fayaz Ahmed,Rongmin Yu, Canzhong Lu

Abstract:
In the recent years, photoredox catalysis has been emerging as one of the fastest growing fields in synthetic chemistry because of its low cost, easy availability and its novel applications in the field of green chemistry. This method employs visible light, which is sustainable, clean and abundant. The organosulfur are an important class of compounds with extensive pharmaceutical and synthetic concern as well as a prominent role in living system. The efficient introduction of sulfur atom into the carbon skeleton remains an eternal challenge and majority of the reported process need sturdy conditions. This work aims an efficient, direct and single step synthetic route for the construction of thioethers, through oxidative coupling of the reaction partners facilitated by eosin Y as an organo photoredox catalyst. The use of inexpensive and non-toxic dye, convenient reaction conditions, simple work-up procedure, and good to excellent yields are the advantages of this approach.
