Article Title: Medicinal Plants Used Against Respiratory Diseases (Asthma, Bronchitis, Cold, Cough, Fever, Whooping Cough) in Lohagara Upazila of Narail District, Bangladesh

Abstract:
Respiratory diseases (RD) are the crucial sources of death throughout the world. The treatment of RD by using contemporary medication is very costly. The research documented the use of medicinal plants in treating respiratory diseases by the traditional healers in Lohagara Upazila of Narail District, Bangladesh. Information on the local uses of medicinal plants was collected using semi-structured interviews with key informants from November 2018 to March 2020. Group discussion with local people was also conducted for the promotion of data collection. Informant Consensus Factor (ICF), Citation Frequency (CF), Fidelity Level (FL) and mode of preparation for each species and use category were calculated. This paper documents 41 medicinal plant species belonging to 36 genera and 30 families that were used by the local traditional practitioners. These plant species are used in various diseases by surrounding people of the study area and also used in pharmaceutical industries. Conclusions: The findings of the present research are the primary stage. Additionally detailed scrutinizes are necessary to authenticate the medicinal plant species utilized by the peoples for the prevention of respiratory ailments in the study area.
