| Abstract: The current study was conducted in Sheikan locality of North Kordofan state during 2019/2020 cropping season the objective of this study was to determine the impact of continuously changing climate on field crops production, as well as the role of extension in identifying new adaptable varieties to the changing climate (millet, sesame and groundnut). scientific sampling procedures were followed for sampling selection; straified multistage random sampling and purposive techniques were used. From sheikan locality was selected only administrative units and villages that reached by RUFOUM project. The selected villages represent (Kazgial,Umsemema,KhorEldegail and Forgallah). Data were collected from 196 farmers? households using questionnaire through random sampling technique and also secondary data were obtained from different sources.Statistical Package of Social Sciences(SPSS) was used for analysis descriptive statistics,frequency and percentages and correlation coefficient were used to test the main hypotheses.The results indicated that (55.6%) of the respondents had experience in climate change hazard, Majority (76%) of respondents used no pesticides. The study results also revealed that(86.3%) of respodents has no production committees, The study revealed that (93.4%) of the respondents received no extension services,Majority of respondents (96.9%) used to finance their agricultural production by their own funds. Correlation coefficient showed that temperature (0.14*) significantly and weakly correlated with millet (-0.35) (-0.07) weakly and negatively correlated with Groundnut and Sesame, rainfall (-0.02) (-0.034) (-0.01) weakly and negatively correlated with Millet, Sesame and Groundnut, crop productivity (0.7*) positively and strongly correlated with technical packages at five percent from zero level. Based on the findings the study recommends strengthening of extension services, introducing agriultural improved technologies and drought tolerant varieties to increase crop productivity and increase resilience in the face of climate change. |
