Article Title: Integrating Elements of the Affective Domain in Teaching, Assessment and Grading of Students' Performance for Effective Learning
by Dr Allen A. Agih

Abstract:
The text of the paper is an advocacy for integrating elements of the affective domain of students to enhance teaching and learning in Nigerian Schools. Affective variables, most educators agree are important for learning. Students’ attitudes towards learning usually play a major role in how much learning those students subsequently pursue. The values and ideals students have regarding interest, concentration, passion, courage, perseverance, faith, truthfulness, honesty, integrity and other such traits shape their daily conduct. However, experience has shown that the affective domain has been relegated to the background in classroom instruction at the expense of the other domains. Affective traits are also the foundation qualities for succeeding societies. The paper therefore made a case for it to be emphasized in teaching, assessment and grading of students’ performance to develop the character of the learners for the overall betterment of society.
