Article Title: Dimensions Of Land Conflicts In Zimbabwe: Black Farmers, Government And The Chinese Nexus During And Post Fast Track Land Reform
by Prof Nyawo V. Z

Abstract:
This research assumes that there have been land conflicts in Zimbabwe from independence to date. The conflicts have been widespread and at different levels down from community to individual level. Such conflicts have been within the different phases of land reforms but have largely been a result of the fast track land reform. Studies on the land reform of Zimbabwe have attempted land conflicts, that is, their nature, origins, experiences, opinions, impact and periods. This research sets out to find the typologies and dimensions of land conflicts in terms of black farmers, the government and the Chinese nexus during and in post fast track land reform. Publications by most have not discussed dimensions of land conflicts especially those that include Chinese miners, works have concentrated on chronicling, origins, impact and opinions on land conflicts by natives, the west, the east and the globe. There has been extensive research on conflict between and among farm workers and land owners in the fast track land reform program. The Capacity building conference theme this year focuses on opportunities in the modern dispensation and as such it would be interesting as well as a breath of fresh air to revisit land reforms investigating land conflict between and among blacks, government and Chinese business people in Zimbabwe as a contemporary matter. To note also was the dimension of the language of discussion between Chinese and black communities since Chinese largely speak their mandarin. Language and lack of willingness to open up were some of the limitations of this study. Findings were that the fast track land reform and its aftermaths have recorded the largest number of land conflicts of all types.
