Article Title: Influence Of School-Type On Social And Emotional Development Skills Of Preschoolers In Oyo State, Nigeria

Abstract:
The study assessed the relationship between social and emotional skills of preschoolers in public and private schools in Oyo state. One hypothesis was raised and verified at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design guided the study. Multistage sampling procedure was used to obtain a sample of four thousand, eight hundred and eighty (4,880) respondents. Multivariate regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. Findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between social skills and emotional development skills of preschoolers in public and private schools in Oyo State as all the p-values of the multivariate criteria Pillai’s Trace, Wilks’ Lambda, Hotelling’s Trace and Roy’s Largest Root that are greater than 0.05. The study concluded that there is no significant relationship between social skills and emotional development skills of preschoolers in public and private schools in the study area. It was recommended among others, that parents should pay close attention to socio-emotional development skills of their wards to encourage the right ones and discourage the wrong ones.
